General living noise
We would not usually consider most day-to-day living noise to be anti-social behaviour, but we may be able to provide support if a neighbour is making excessive noise regularly.
Examples of normal living noise that we would not consider to be anti-social behaviour include: flushing toilets, talking, closing doors, cooking noise, boiling kettles or people working from home.
We suggest that you speak to your neighbour first to explain the issue, as they may not realise that it is causing you a problem. To help you with this, we have produced a “Dear Neighbour” postcard – simply download it, print it out and post it through their door to let them know your concerns.
You may want to consider mediation as a way that you and your neighbours can express your feelings about the situation and agree on a solution. This is a free, independent and confidential service that we can refer you to – please just ask and we will be happy to help.
If the issue relates to someone working from home please follow the steps above.
If you still feel disturbed, please download our Noise App where you can start to record and report the noise you are hearing. We can then advise you if the noise is something that we would investigate. Please note, we can only take action if the person causing the noise is one of our tenants.
If the noise is persistent, please contact us on 0800 218 2247 so we can support you.
If the noise is coming from a property that is not owned by Watford Community Housing, you can report your concerns to your local authority.
