Welcoming our new residents

Earlier this year, we announced that West Herts Homes transferred its homes to Watford Community Housing, having chosen us as the preferred partner to deliver services to its customers.

Following this, we have now taken over the management of some of Hertfordshire County Council’s homes, as well as homes from Hendon Christian Housing Association (HCHA).

The transfer from Hertfordshire County Council took effect on 16 September 2024 and sees us take on around 200 supported housing bedspaces across Watford, Three Rivers, Dacorum, Hertsmere, St Albans and Welwyn Hatfield.

On 31 October 2024, HCHA, based in North London, transferred their 140 properties to us following a consultation with residents. HCHA made the decision to transfer in light of the challenging operating environment for smaller housing associations, and they wanted to ensure the ongoing provision of good-quality homes and services for their residents.

As we are a Community Gateway association, all new residents are eligible to become members and support Watford Community Housing’s decision-making.
