What was once the home of two derelict garage blocks, is now 11 beautiful, new-build homes.
Following completion by Parrott Construction, Hertsmere Developments Limited (HDL) in January 2025, the wholly-owned subsidiary of Hertsmere Borough Council, handed the development over to Hertsmere Living Limited (HLL) – our joint venture with Hertsmere Borough Council.
Hertsmere Borough Council retain the nomination rights for these homes – this means that they have control over how they are allocated and can ensure they meet the needs of the local community.
On 13 February 2025, representatives from Hertsmere Developments, Hertsmere Council, local councillors and Watford Community Housing met for a tour of the new homes.
The development consists of eleven 2-bedroom, high-quality apartments, all for affordable rent. Despite it being a small site, there are nine parking spaces, cycle parking, car charging and an enclosed bin area. All of the homes have balconies and tall, modern windows, flooding the apartment with natural light.
Tina Barnard, Chief Executive of Watford Community Housing, said: “It is great to see these unused, derelict garage sites transformed into 11 affordable houses for local people.
“We look forward to seeing the residents of Hertsmere move in and enjoy their new homes.”
