On Wednesday 26 March 2025, a team from Exertis – a leading technology distribution and service provider – came together for a day of corporate social responsibility and team building. Exertis encourages its employees to volunteer one day each year, and this year, they chose to rejuvenate our independent living scheme, Swanston House.

The focus of the day was on painting the walls and cleaning the carpets, with the cost of materials covered by our budget. The main wall was painted in a vibrant frosted grape (lilac), while the other walls were given a fresh coat of dove (grey) paint. One resident is going to continue the improvements, volunteering to paint a bookcase with the materials we provided.

The volunteers worked throughout the day to give Swanston House a new look. Although they were not professionals, they found supporting our residents very fulfilling and had a great time. Their hard work was recognised with certificates of appreciation, which they gratefully received.

Christine, our scheme officer, was thrilled with the results. The residents were also overjoyed with the transformation, noting that it had been about 15 years since the last refresh.
