The Housing Ombudsman is inviting social housing residents to join its resident panel!
The resident panel is a way for social housing residents to share their experience and help improve lives across the country through regulation of landlords. Participants in the panel will suggest improvements through regular meetings and discussions with the Ombudsman, provide feedback on consultations through surveys and learn how they can promote the services of the Ombudsman to their local communities.
The current panel, elected in 2021, has been instrumental in the Ombudsman’s work. They’ve helped by providing feedback on the new Complaint Handling Code, annual business plans and various projects to improve accessibility.
The Ombudsman is looking for a variety of applicants from diverse backgrounds both in who they are and their social housing background – both tenants and leaseholders can apply! Applicants don’t need to have any prior experience with scrutiny panels, have made a complaint to their landlord or interacted with the Ombudsman before.
To apply to be a member of the panel and to find out more information, please go to the Housing Ombudsman’s website.
